Through her work in quilting, Ringgold expresses personal narratives about her experiences, and experiences of those close to her. In this lesson, students will create their own story quilts centered around their interests and personalities.

This lesson plan includes:

  1. A biography on the life and work of Faith Ringgold to share with students

  2. Guided questions to use for inquiry-based discussion

  3. Step-by-step guide of how to draw a hybrid animal with accurate proportions

  4. Visual examples demonstrating each step of the lesson
