Educational Workshop for Artists
Write Your Best Artist Statement & Bio is a 60-minute
pre-recorded workshop designed to help artists develop clear, compelling, and polished professional materials.
Polish your statement. Refine your bio. Share your work with confidence.
In this comprehensive pre-recorded workshop, artists are guided step-by-step through the process of writing clear, compelling, and authentic artist statements and bios.
Created by Victoria J. Fry—founder of Visionary Art Collective and director of Warnes Contemporary—this powerful workshop draws on her experience working with hundreds of artists and curating exhibitions and publications.
With built-in prompts and actionable guidance, Victoria shares the proven strategies she’s used to help artists confidently articulate their creative practice and stand out in exhibitions, applications, and across online platforms.
Ready to elevate your artist statement & bio?
Learn to prepare for writing by reflecting on their creative process, materials, inspirations, and personal connections to their work. The workshop emphasizes the importance of identifying a “golden thread” across one’s practice and provides strategies for developing language that is intentional, descriptive, and engaging.
Participants are encouraged to explore three central questions:
Why do you create your work?
How do you make it?
What impact do you hope to make?
Through real artist examples, writing exercises, and suggested structures, the workshop helps artists move from messy beginnings to polished drafts. It includes guidance on differentiating between an artist statement (first person) and bio (third person), formatting tips, and how to tailor different versions for various platforms or submissions.
Whether you're building your professional presence or deepening your understanding of your practice, this workshop offers the tools and encouragement to write with clarity and confidence.
In this workshop, you will —
Discover what to include (and what to leave out) in your artist statement and bio
